A 4V fitting is a generous and wide fitting which also offers some extra depth in ths shoe.

The V signifiies that the fit can be adjusted if needed, and a 4V fitting will happily accomodate a 4E or 6E foot.

Additional depth in a shoe is important for conditions such as hammertoes, bunions, gout and swelling as it stops toes rubbing against the top of the shoe which can cause irritation and discomfort.

Some natural foot shapes also need a 4V fitting, where the front of the foot is quite thick or the toes are voluminous.

A variable fit is recommended for those who may need to adjust the fit over the day. If your feet are very swollen then we would recommend looking at our 6V fitting range, as this offers even more width and depth inside the shoe.

This width fitting is not available on the high street, even at well known wide fitting shops.
