Will composite toe safety boots set off airport metal detectors?
No. Composite toe caps contain no ferrous metal, so they don't trigger airport metal detectors or body scanners. A steel toe boot will trigger the alarm every time.
Are composite toe caps as safe as steel toe caps?
Yes. Both meet EN ISO 20345 S3, requiring protection against a 200 joule impact and 15kN compression. The difference is the material, not the level of protection.
I have very wide feet — will these fit me?
Our Wide Load range is built in a 6E extra wide fitting — one of the widest safety boots available in the UK. Perfect for gout, bunions, swollen feet or anyone who's struggled to find a safety boot that fits. UK sizes 4–16.
Can I use my own orthotics?
Yes. All Wide Load boots have a removable insole so you can replace it with your prescribed or custom orthotic footbed.
